Gina Chua is Executive Editor at Semafor, a new global news startup. She had previous roles as Executive Editor at Reuters, Editor-in-Chief of the South China Morning Post and The Asian Wall Street Journal, Deputy Managing Editor at The Wall Street Journal in New York. She’s also been a reporter in Singapore, Manila and Hanoi. A native of Singapore, she graduated with a BA in Mathematics from the University of Chicago and a MS in journalism from Columbia University. She transitioned in 2020.
