Sam is the Head of Legal & Compliance at Borrowell, one of Canada’s largest financial technology companies that helps consumers find financial prosperity and make great decisions about credit. Borrowell has over 2 million users and was the first company in Canada to offer credit scores for free and first to offer a program to let renters build credit with rent payments without their landlord’s involvement. Borrowell believes strongly that a robust open banking regime will help Canadian consumers and small business.

Prior to this, Sam was legal counsel at President’s Choice Financial, a mid-sized bank, and a corporate lawyer at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in the Financial Services Group where she advised financial institutions and Fintechs on a broad range of corporate commercial matters including payments, privacy and regulatory compliance. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and law degree from Western University.
